Voter Education Series Kicks Off in St. Petersburg

The three-session series is co-sponsored by the Unitarian Universalist Church and the League of Women Voters of the St. Petersburg area. The first topic is local control of schools.

ST. PETERSBURG – A three-session voter education series kicks off tonight (Oct. 2) in St. Petersburg.

The goal of the three-part series is to help residents vote knowledgeably in the November election. This series is co-sponosred by the Unitarian Universalist Church of St Petersburg and the League of Women Voters of the St Petersburg Area.

The topic of tonight’s session is Schools:Local Control of School and Restorative Practices. Organizers say attempts by the Constitutional Revision Commission and the Florida Legislature to erode local control of schools; and the FAST coalition priority of restorative practices are two very important educational issues.The session will be 7 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church, 100 Mirror Lake Drive in St. Petersburg. All sessions are open to the public.

  • Oct. 16: Gun Safety
  • Oct. 23: Amendments to the Florida Constitution

Become informed before you vote, organizers said, and remember that every election is determined by the people who show up.

The election is Nov. 6. The last day to register to vote in the election is Oct. 9. Online registration is available at registertovoteflorida.gov.
