Supervisor of Elections Warns Pasco Voters of Misleading Mailings
The mailings come from the Voter Participation Center, Brian Corley said.
PASCO COUNTY – The supervisor of elections office has begun receiving phone calls from confused and angry voters who are receiving voter registration applications in the mail from the Voter
Participation Center (VPC)., based out of Washington DC.
Voters mistakenly believe the mailings are coming from the Pasco County Supervisor of Elections’ Office.
“The majority of the phone calls we are receiving are from already registered voters who are questioning what has happened to their voter registration,” elections supervisor Brian Corley said. “This is very confusing to them, and rightly so. It is creating suspicion, mistrust, and increased anger which further erodes the confidence of voters and unnecessarily places a burden on the elections’ office staff which is actively preparing for upcoming elections.”
Corley added, “I am encouraging all voters who receive these notices to check their voter registration status before pushing the panic button, and advising them to contact the VPC directly with their grievances. We have dealt with the VPC in the past, and sadly, they continue to cause unnecessary confusion for the voters. It’s time they hear from the voters.”
The Voter Participation Center has previously launched voter registration campaigns using erroneous consumer data lists that were outdated. So, just check with our office to make sure the information we have on you is accurate and up-to-date, he said. For the most accurate information, voters who receive these mailings can check their voter registration status at pascovotes.com or call the Pasco voter registration office at (800) 851-8754.
Corley said voters can contact Jennifer Carrier on behalf of the Voter Participation Center at (202) 420-3034 or toll free at (877) 255-6750. For information about the center, go to voterparticipation.org.
