Gillum says he’s running to to rebuild Florida into a state that works for all and to help people get good-paying jobs so they can support their families. He says he wants to protect and expand Floridians’ access to quality, affordable healthcare, especially people with pre-existing conditions.

As governor, Gillum says he will fight against the special interests that are standing in the way of taking real action on climate change, and will always ensure Florida is a welcoming and safe place for everyone, no matter where they come from, who they love or how they identify.

Gillum is one of 24 announced candidates who want to be Florida’s next governor. Among the most well known of the candidates are Gillum’s Democrats Phillip Levine, a former Miami Beach mayor, and Gwen Graham, a former member of the U.S. House of Representatives and daughter of former Florida Gov. Bob Graham.

The 23-member gubernatorial field also includes Republicans Ron DeSantis, a member of the U.S. House, and Adam Putnam, the state’s commissioner of agriculture.

The primary is Aug. 28. The general election is Nov. 6.
