Smith Schedules Fundraiser in Hillsborough Commission Race
Mariella Smith is running for the District 5 seat on the Hillsborough County Commission.
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – Mariella Smith is holding a house party fundraiser for her campaign for the District 5 seat on the Hillsborough County Commission.
The event is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday (April 24) at 811 S Edison Ave. in Tampa’s Hyde Park. The house party is hosted by Rochelle A. Reback. For information about the fundraiser, go to facebook.com.
Smith is a Tampa native who was appointed by county commissioners to serve on the Hillsborough County Economic Prosperity Stakeholder Committee.
Smith said that Hillsborough residents can have a better future if they move beyond the “tired old ways that career politicians keep pushing on behalf of the special interests that want to keep them in office — even beyond their term-limited time. I know we can all prosper if we embrace 21st-Century solutions for smart growth, transit-oriented development and modern, multi-modal transportation options, and tie them to better economic policies, more responsible use of taxpayer dollars, sustainable green technologies and environmental protection.”
Smith, a Democrat, is running for the District 5 seat on the Hillsborough commission, which is currently held by Ken Hagen. Also running for the seat are Democrats Mark Nash and Elvis Jamine Piggott; Republicans Victor Crist, Timothy Lynn Curtis, and Angel S. Urbina Capo; and write-in candidate George Niemann.
