Scott Long Sets Campaign Kickoff in Safety Harbor

He is running for reelection to the Safety Harbor City Commission.

SAFETY HARBOR – City Commissioner Scott Long has scheduled a campaign kickoff fundraiser for Wednesday (Dec. 20).

The fundraiser is scheduled from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Safety Harbor gazebo,  401 Main St.  

The event will include coffee from Cafe Vino Tinto, sweets from Joey Biscotti, popcorn from GiggleWaters and snacks from the Sandwich on Main, with rock painting for kids led by Harbor Food Tours and Francie’s Studio Fifth Avenue, and live music. Long is scheduled to speak at 7:30 p.m.

Long is a native of Columbus, Ohio, who is founder and owner of  Ante Up Poker Media LLC. He has served as president of the Harbor Woods Village Homeowners Association, chair of Safety Harbor’s Public Art Committee, and as a member of Safety Harbor’s Planning and Zoning Board and Board of Appeals. He is a graduate of the Safety Harbor Citizens Academy He hold Seat 1 on the Safety Harbor commission.

Safety Harbor has a commission-manager form of government, in which a five-member commission consisting of a mayor and four commissioners set policy and pass a budget while a city manager oversees the daily activities of the city. Commission members serve three-year terms.

Three seats – 1, 2, and 3 – are up for grabs in the March 13 nonpartisan election. Qualifying opens at noon Jan. 2 and closes at noon Jan. 9.
