Four Run for Two Seats in Madeira Beach

Four candidates are seeking the two open seats on the Madeira Beach City Commission.

MADEIRA BEACH – Four candidates are seeking the nod from voters to serve on the Madeira Beach City Commission.

Incumbent Terry Lister is facing a challenge from Deby Weinstein for the District 1 seat on the commission. Incumbent Nancy Hodges is facing a challenge from Eric Breslin.

Madeira Beach is a five-member board made up of the mayor and four commissioners. The commission is responsible for setting policy and passing a budget while a city manager is responsible for the city’s daily activities.

Meetings take place at 6 p.m. on the second Tuesday of every month in the Commissioners Chambers at City Hall, 300 Municipal Drive. Workshops are usually at 2 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month in the Commissioners Chambers. The board of commissioners may schedule other regular meetings as it deems necessary in accordance with its established rules of procedure. Special meetings may be held on the call of the mayor or a majority of the commission members with no less than twenty-four (24) hours notice in writing to each member and the public.

The nonpartisan election is March 13. The last day to register to vote in the election is Feb. 12.
