Rick Kriseman Reelected Mayor of St. Petersburg

Darden Rice was reelected to the St. Pete City Council. Brandi Gabbard and Gina Driscoll also won council seats.

ST. PETERSBURG – Rick Kriseman defeated former Mayor Rick Baker to win a second term as mayor.

Kriseman defeated Baker by 2,138 votes, according to unofficial returns from the Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections office. Kriseman won about 51.6 percent of the vote (34,155 votes) to Baker’s 48.4 percent (32,017 votes).

In the races for St. Petersburg council, incumbent Darden Rice won a landslide victory with about 72.6 percent of the vote over challenger Jerick Johnston to retain the District 4 seat on the council.

In the District 2 race, newcomer Brandi Gabbard won a decisive victory over another politica, first timer, Barclay Harless. Gabbard brought home about 61.2 percent of the vote to Harless’ 38.8 percent. The seat was held by Jim Kennedy, who has termed out of office.

In the other council race for the District 6 seat, Gina Driscoll easily defeated Justin Bean. Driscoll won about 55 percent of the vote to Bean’s 45 percent. This was the first race for both of them. The District 6 seat is currently held by Karl Nurse, who is also terming out of office.
