Plant City Commissioner Endorses Patel for County Commission

Aakash Patel is running for the District 7 seat on the Hillsborough County Commission.

TAMPA – Plant City Commissioner Bill Dodson has endorsed Aakash Patel for Hillsborough County Commission, District 7.

Dodson, who has served on the Plant City Commission since 2003, is a small businessman with Florida Brick and Clay. He served as mayor of Plant City for one year and recently completed a term as vice mayor.

“It is my pleasure to endorse Aakash Patel for Hillsborough County Commission,” Dodson said. “I believe he will use his conservative principles to guide him in all he does while serving the citizens of Hillsborough County. His experience as a small business owner will be extremely valuable as he is faced with tough decisions on important issues such as traffic congestion, infrastructure and our environment.”

Patel, the 2017 recipient of the Deanne Dewey Roberts Emerging Leader Award from the Greater Tampa Chamber, said, “I am honored to have the support of Commissioner Dodson. He is a great example of conservative leadership and I look forward to working with him while serving on the Hillsborough County Commission.”

Patel, the founder of Elevate, said he is eager to work on issues important to residents of Hillsborough County including economic development, transportation and government efficiency among many others.

Patel is running for the District 7 seat on the Hillsborough Commission. His opponent in the Republican primary is Todd Marks. Early voting has begun in Hillsborough County. Primary election day is Aug. 28.
