Pinellas Elections Office Mails Ballots to Military and Overseas Voters

The Nov. 7 election includes a countywide referendum on the renewal of the Penny for Pinellas sales tax as well as municipal elections in St. Petersburg and Seminole and referenda in Clearwater and Dunedin.

PINELLAS COUNTY – The Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections Office mailed a total of 3,962 ballots to absent military and overseas voters today (Sept. 22) for the Nov. 7 county referendum and municipal general elections.

Absent military and overseas voters include all active-duty military, their spouses and dependents currently absent from their places of residence, and civilians who are U.S. citizens residing outside the United States.

Pinellas is holding a countywide referendum to let voters decide whether to renew the Penny for Pinellas sales tax. St. Petersburg is holding municipal elections for mayor and three council members. Seminole is holding an election for two council seats. Clearwater has a referendum concerning the Downtown Clearwater waterfront. Dunedin has proposed charter amendments on the ballot.

A ballot mailing to approximately 259,000 domestic voters is tentatively scheduled for Oct. 3. State law requires domestic ballots to be mailed between 35 and 28 days before an election. Domestic voters are civilian voters residing within the United States and active-duty military voters living in Pinellas County.
