PASCO COUNTY – Two candidates running for the Pasco County School Board have teamed up for their first fundraiser.

The fundraiser for Meghan Hamer and Kathryn “Kassie” Hutchinson is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Thursday (Feb. 1) at ZenfiniTea Botanical Bar & Lounge, 3501 Universal Plaza, New Port Richey. Hamer and Hutchinson said the kickoff fundraiser will also give voters a chance to share their ideas about the public education system in Pasco County and the changes they want to see for students.

Hamer is challenging incumbent Cynthia Armstrong for the District 3 seat on the school board.

Hutchinson is running in District 5. Mike Aday and Tara M. O’Connor have also announced they are running for the seat, which is held by Steve Luikart.

The five-member Pasco County School Board is responsible for for setting policy for the school district. Those policies are carried out by the school superintendent who also oversees the daily activities of the district.

Board members are elected countywide in nonpartisan races. School board meetings are held twice a month unless otherwise announced.
