Philip Levine is running for Florida governor.

ST. PETERSBURG – Gubernatorial candidate Philip Levine will kick off the opening of his St. Petersburg campaign office late this afternoon (March 23) with a living room conversation.

Levine will share his vision for Florida. Food and drink will be provided. The kickoff will be 5:15 p.m. at the Levine for Governor – St. Petersburg Office, 2501 First Ave. N.

This will be the second office for the Levine for Governor campaign.

“I am thrilled to welcome supporters to a living room conversation in our new St. Petersburg office,” Levine said. “The Tampa Bay area and surrounding counties are crucial for bringing change to the Governor’s Mansion this year. I look forward to being back in St. Petersburg very often as I bring our progressive vision of a state that works for all Floridians to every corner of our state.”

Levine is a former Miami Beach mayor who touts his progressive vision to move Florida forward as a leader in the 21st Century economy. Levine has said he wants to revitalize the state’s economy. He has said he envisions a Florida with better-paying jobs, more competitive public schools, and an entrepreneurial approach to protecting the environment. He said he will fight for the real needs of the working families of Florida, rather than for the powerful interests in Tallahassee.

Levine, a Democrat, is one of 23 announced candidates for governor. Among the most well known of the candidates are Levin’s fellow Democrats Andrew Gillum, Tallahassee’s mayor, and Gwen Graham, a former member of the U.S. House of Representatives and daughter of former Florida Gov. Bob Graham.

The 23-member gubernatorial field also includes Republicans Ron DeSantis, a member of the U.S. House, and Adam Putnam, the state’s commissioner of agriculture.

The primary is Aug. 28. The general election is Nov. 6.
