TAMPA – Andrew Learned has scheduled a fundraiser in his race for the U.S. House District 15 seat.

The fundraiser is 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday (March 8) at Mise en Place, 442 W Kennedy Blvd. in Tampa. It is hosted by Alex Sink and Sam Bell. Co-hosts include Hillsborough County Commissioner Pat Kemp and Tampa council members Harry Cohen and Guido Maniscalco.

Learned is a Valrico native who served eight years and three deployments to the Middle East as an officer in the U.S. Navy. After he transferred to the reserve force, he opened the Valrico GradePower Learning center, a neighborhood learning center that helps kids catch-up and get ahead in school.

The HD 15 seat is currently held by Republican Dennis Ross. HD 15 covers a portion of Hillsborough, Polk and Lake counties and the I-4 corridor.

Thus far, eight candidates have stepped forward to oppose Ross: Republicans Loretta “Leah Lax” Miller and Curtis Ralph Rogers; and Democrats Learned, Cameron Magnuson, Raymond Pena Jr., James Gregory Pilkington, Jeffrey Rabinowitz, and Greg Williams.

The primary is Aug. 28 and the general election is Nov. 6.
