Andrew Learned is running for the District 15 seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – County Commissioner Pat Kemp has endorsed Andrew Learned in his race for the District 15 seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Kemp, who represents District 6 on the Hillsborough County Commission, sent out this statement explaining her endorsement of Learned:

“MacDill Air Force Base is a critical component of Hillsborough County and our surrounding Tampa Bay region. That’s why I’m supporting Andrew Learned for Congress. When elected, Andrew would be the only veteran in Congress for the entire Tampa Bay region and would represent tens of thousands of our service men & women, their families, and our veterans in Eastern Hillsborough County.

“Like me, Andrew is a fighter for working families, transportation investment, and environmental sustainability. He’s made healthcare, education, and military policy cornerstones of his campaign and he is our local candidate from here in Valrico. In addition to recently returning from his third deployment to the Middle East as an officer in the U.S. Navy, he also owns the Valrico GradePower Learning Center and has been on the front-line of helping students who struggle to keep up with their schooling.

“As you may have heard, Dennis Ross recently announced his retirement after seeing the writing on the wall and the type of candidate and grassroots campaign he was up against. FL-15 is now rated the 23rd most likely House flip in the nation; we NEED [sic]to pick this one up for the betterment of Hillsborough County and the entire Tampa Bay region.

Learned, like Kemp, is a Democrat. He is one of 12 candidates who qualified to run for the CD 15 seat that Ross is vacating. The other candidates are Democrats Kristen Carson and Raymond “Ray” Pena; Republicans Danny Kushmer, Neil Combee, Sean Harper, Curt Rogers, Ed Shoemaker and Ross Spano; and write-in candidates Alek Bynzar, Dave Johnson and Jeffrey G. Rabinowitz.

CD 15 stretches from from the suburbs of Tampa in the west to the suburbs of Orlando in the east. It follows I-4 with Plant City and Lakeland near the geographic center and Temple Terrace, Progress Village, Clermont, and Valrico shaping the borders. It includes portions of Hillsborough, Lake and Polk counties.
