Jurado Wins in Temple Terrace

Lawrence McClure won the Republican primary for the House District 58 seat and will move on to the special election in December.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – Mel Jurado handily won the race for mayor of Temple Terrace in a special election Tuesday (Oct. 10).

According to unofficial results from the Hillsborough Supervisor of Elections, Jurado won with about 72. 5 percent (1,904 votes) of the votes. Opponent David Ganessingh came in second with about 18.2 percent (477 votes) while Linda Ormsbee trailed with about 9.36 percent (246 votes).

The results include all precincts, early voting and vote by mail. The unofficial results do not include provisional and 10-day overseas ballots.

In the Republican primary for the state House District 58 seat, Lawrence McClure easily defeated Yvonne Fry. McClure polled about 54.9 percent of the vote (3,631 votes) to Fry’s 45.1 percent (2,984 votes).

McClure will move on to the Dec. 19 special election where he will face Jose Vazquez, a Democrat; Bryan Zemina, a Libertarian; and Ahmad Hussam Saadaldin, who has no party affiliation.
