St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman is running for reelection.

ST. PETERSBURG – Rick Kriseman is bringing in a national figure to help out in the waning days of the race for the St. Petersburg mayor’s office.

Julián Castro, former Democratic mayor of San Antonio, Texas, served as the secretary of Housing and Urban Development under President Barack Obama, who has endorsed Kriseman. Castro was considered as a possible vice presidential candidate in 2016. He is now considered a possible contender for the Democratic nomination in 2020.

Castro will join Kriseman at a fundraiser from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday (Oct. 27) at the Station House, 260 First Ave. S. Tickets are limited and expected to run out: $500 for the leaders conversation and $100 for supporters. Hors d’oeuvres and drinks will be provided. For tickets to the event, click here.

The two will discuss the role mayors play in our nation and the importance of this election.

Kriseman, who is seeking his second term, is in a tight race against former Mayor Rick Baker.

Voting by mail has begun. Early voting is Oct. 28-Nov. 5 at all Pinellas County Supervisor of Elections offices. The election is Nov. 7.
