Any registered Hillsborough voter will be able to cast a ballot at the new site.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – Voting is about to become more convenient for the 60,000 or so students, faculty and staff who spend time on University of South Florida’s Tampa campus each day.

Hillsborough Supervisor of Elections Craig Latimer has announced that he has worked with USF to secure an early voting location for the upcoming general election in its Yeungling Center (formerly known as the Sun Dome), 4202 E Fowler Ave. The USF site will be one of 20 early voting sites in Hillsborough County, open daily from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Oct. 22 through Nov. 4.

In late July, U.S. District Judge Mark Walker issued a ruling to allow early voting on college campuses.

“As soon as we heard the ruling, we contacted USF to talk about how we could bring Early Voting to the campus,” Supervisor of Elections Craig Latimer said. “We have been working together to share information about voting with USF students for years, so this is a natural and very welcome extension of that partnership.”

The Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections has an Election Day polling place in USF’s Marshall Student Center, 4103 Cedar Circle, and is frequently on campus to register students to vote and share election information.

“What’s important about the early voting location at USF is that any Hillsborough County voter can vote there. We print the voter’s ballot on demand at each early voting site. This is different than Election Day, when,
by law, you can only vote in the neighborhood polling place assigned to your precinct,” Latimer said.

Hillsborough County will have all of its early voting locations open for the maximum number of days and hours allowed in Florida — two full weeks, including both weekends.
