Christine Anne Brown is running for reelection to Gulfport City Council, Ward II.

GULFPORT – A campaign kickoff for Christine Anne Brown is scheduled for Wednesday (Jan. 25).

The event will be 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Pia’s Trattoria, 3054 Beach Blvd. S. Hors d’oeuvres will be compliments of Pia’s.

Brown is running for reelection to the Ward II seat on the Gulfport City Council. Ward II is generally located south of Gulfport Boulevard and east of 58th Street S.

The city of Gulfport has a council-manager form of government. A five-person council is elected citywide by the voters, each for a two-year term, except for the mayor who is elected to a three-year term. The city is divided into four wards, each of which is represented by one of the council members. The mayor is the fifth member of the council and is elected at-large, not representing any ward. The mayor presides over council meetings, which are held the first and third Tuesdays of each month.

The election is March 14. Brown is being challenged by Linda Bailey.
