Gubernatorial candidate Gwen Graham will march in this morning’s parade, which is billed as Florida’s largest Independence Day celebration.

BRANDON – Democratic gubernatorial candidate Gwen Graham is scheduled to march today in Brandon’s annual Fourth of July Parade with state Sen. Darryl Rousson and supporters this morning (July 4).

The Brandon parade is the largest Fourth of July Parade in Florida and has been organized for more than 60 years by the Community Roundtable.

The parade begins at 10 a.m. at the corner of Lumsden Road and Parsons Avenue. It heads north to Robertson Street, turns west and finishes at Buckingham Place.

Graham is one of seven candidates running for the Democratic nomination to be Florida’s next governor.

Graham, the daughter of former Florida Gov. Bob Graham, served one term in the U.S. House of Representatives. While in there, she served on the House Armed Services Committee, where she fought for our service members, veterans and their families. She also served on the House Agriculture Committee to be a voice for Florida’s farmers. Graham said she also fought for the USDA to expand their StrikeForce initiative to fight rural poverty in Florida, and she introduced the bipartisan AgShare Act, which would make it possible for new and beginning farmers to share idle government equipment.

Graham has three children, Sarah, Graham and Mark Ernest, and she is married to Stephen D. Hurm, a former law enforcement officer and attorney, who currently serves as a faculty member at Florida State University.

The primary is Aug. 28. The general election is Nov. 6. The last day to register to vote – or change party affiliation – for the primary is July 30.
