Brandi Gabbard is running for the District 2 seat on the St. Petersburg City Council.

ST. PETERSBURG – Brandi Gabbard, a candidate for the District 2 seat on the St. Petersburg City Council, has scheduled a meet and greet for Tuesday (Sept. 26).

The event is hosted by Bob Glaser and Amy Seeks. It will be 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Bliss Rooftop, 176 4th Ave. NE, St. Petersburg. The event is rain or shine.

Gabbard is a Realtor® who has served as chair of the Pinellas Realtor Organization. She has testified before the governor regarding the effects of flood insurance on the affordability of home ownership in St. Petersburg. Gabbard has also served on the city’s flood insurance task force.

Gabbard said she is an advocate of lower taxes, private property rights, affordable workforce housing, and a small-business friendly environment. This is her first run for public office.

She is seeking the District 2 seat on the council, which is currently held by Jim Kennedy, who is terming out. Her opponent is Barclay Harless, another first-time candidate.

The District 2 seat covers northeast St. Petersburg including the Gateway area.

The St. Petersburg council has eight members who are responsible for setting policy and a budget. St. Petersburg council members serve four-year terms and earn $44,452 annually. The nonpartisan election is Nov. 7.
