Election Qualifying Opens in St. Pete Beach

Two city commission seats will be on the March 13 ballot in St.. Pete Beach.

ST. PETE BEACH – Qualifying opens at noon today (Nov. 30) for two seats on the St. Pete Beach City Commission.

The available seats are District 1, currently held by Terri Finnerty, and District 3, held by Ward Friszolowski. Qualifying closes at noon Dec. 8.

To qualify, a candidate must have lived in the district in which he is running for at least the 12 months before Dec. 8. Commission members serve two-year terms and are paid $5,400 annually. Voters who live within the districts elect the commissioners for those districts.

St. Pete Beach has about 10,000 permanent residents. Commissioners meet on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month.

The election is March 13.
