SEMINOLE – Pinellas County Commissioner Charlie Justice has endorsed Alex Heeren in the race for Florida House District 66.

“I’m endorsing Alex Heeren because as a former state representative and state senator, I know what it takes to get things done in Tallahassee,” Justice said. “Alex has the knowledge about local issues and the strong work ethic necessary to make a difference. We can count on him to get results for Pinellas County.”

Heeren said, “I have admired Commissioner Justice’s dedication to public service for many years, and I’m thrilled to have received his endorsement in my race. His support is especially meaningful because he has served in Florida’s Capitol. I look forward to following his example and fighting for the people of Pinellas County.”

A few weeks ago, Heeren announced the endorsement of Pinellas County School Board Members Rene Flowers and Linda Lerner. Heeren has also been endorsed by Pinellas County Commissioner Pat Gerard, Belleair Beach City Councilmember Wanda Schwerer, and Belleair Bluffs City Commissioners Joe Barkley and Jack Nazario.

Heeren was born in Seminole and has lived there for almost his entire life. He went to Lakewood High School, and received his Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications from the University of Florida.

He taught math for several years at Meadowlawn Middle School. He also ran a Girls Who Code after school program, and still coaches the school’s volleyball team. Now, Heeren is a technology integration coordinator with Pinellas County Schools. He helps teachers incorporate technology into their classrooms.
