Cane Collects Endorsements in Race for Pinellas School Board

Lisa N. Cane is running for the District 2 seat on the Pinellas County School Board.

PALM HARBOR – Lisa N. Cane candidate for Pinellas County School Board Seat 2, has swept up endorsement from 11 current and former elected officials.

Among them are three former school board members, county and state officials: former Pinellas School Board members Ken Peluso and Ron Walker, former board member and former Pinellas County Commissioner Nancy Bostock, .Clearwater Vice Mayor Dorene Caudell, Palm Harbor Fire Commissioners Debbie Buschman and Casey Cane, Pinellas County Property Appraiser Mike Twitty, Pinellas County Tax Collector Charles Thomas, and state Reps. Jamie Grant and Chris Latvala.

“Lisa’s passion, insight and experience is exactly what our School Board needs,” Peluso said.

Cane is a resident of Palm Harbor who is or has been the creative director at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Academy. She has been the president of Nicola Productions since 2005. She is the musical theater director at Calvary Christian High School and a pre-school music teacher at Young Days Preschool.

Cane advocates the inclusion of more arts and humanities courses in the curriculum. She also advocates increased school safety by the installation of bulletproof glass and steel doors with panic hardware. She would also review the district’s capital improvement plan to identify unnecessary appropriations.

Cane is facing Jeff Larsen in the at-large race for the District 2 seat on the school board, a non-partisan race. The election is Nov. 6. The last day to register to vote in the general election or to change your voter registration is Oct. 9. Online voter registration can be found at registertovoteflorida.gov.
