Bernie Sanders to Stump with Gillum in Tampa
U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders has endorsed Andrew Gillum in the race for Florida governor.
TAMPA – U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders will campaign with Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum in Tampa and Orlando this week.
Sanders endorsed Gillum and touted his political courage in beating the NRA and standing up against bigoted politicians.
Gillum, whose campaign says he is Florida’s most viably progressive gubernatorial candidate in history, is running on a platform that includes Medicare for all, repealing stand your ground, banning assault weapons, legalizing marijuana, and a $15 minimum wage.
The Gillum-Sanders Tampa rally is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday (Aug. 17) at the Armature Works – Gathering Room, 1910 N Ola Ave. Doors open at 10 a.m.
Gillum is one of seven Democrats running in the governor’s race. The primary election is Aug. 28 but early voting has begun in some counties.
