Rick Baker has also scheduled a fundraiser Friday.

ST. PETERSBURG – Former Mayor Rick Bakerm who’s running to get his old job back, released two videos this week.

Both are 30-second videos and both stress Baker’s accomplishments while serving as mayor from 2001 to 2010.

In one ad, a group of people sitting at a table in a restaurant chat about all the great things about St. Petersburg including such things as dog parks and the Dali Museum.

“You know that’s all because of the mayor, right?” a waitress asks.

“Kriseman?”

The waitress laughs and says, “No, Mayor Rick Baker.”

She gestures behind her and the video cuts to a picture of Baker in sunglasses. Baker removes the glasses and says, “You ain’t seen nothin’ yet.”

In the other ad, two people are in a record store and the clerk asks if they’re searching for the Rick Baker records. He points them out – Beach Drive, the Grand Prix, the “great Midtown comeback.”

Then the woman asks, “What’s this?”

The clerk says, “Kriseman record? No one’s buying.”

Baker enters, again wearing sunglasses. The clerk asks, “Hey, Rick, what you got?”

“New releases.”

Baker also has a fundraiser scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Friday (Sept. 29) at Kozuba & Sons, 1960 Fifth Ave. S. Members of the host committee include St. Petersburg City Council member Ed Montanari, former U.S. Rep. David Jolly, U.S. Rep. Gus Bilirakis, and state Sen. Jeff Brandes.

Baker is facing incumbent Mayor Rick Kriseman in the Nov. 7 general election. St. Petersburg’s mayor serves for four years and earns $180,895 a year.
