U.S. Rep. Gus Bilirakis issued a statement praising Donald Trump for an airstrike that killed Iranian general Qassem Soleimani, leader of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ elite Quds Force, and nine others at Baghdad International Airport.

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Rep. Gus Bilirakis, R-Palm Harbor, praised President Donald Trump on Friday for ordering an airstrike that killed Iranian general Qassem Soleimani, leader of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ elite Quds Force, and nine others at Baghdad International Airport.

Bilirakis’ statement:

“While I am certainly concerned with escalating violence in the Middle East, I believe we must use whatever force is necessary to protect American lives. Soleimani was responsible for the killings of countless American soldiers and whose future imminent attacks against the U.S. were thwarted by this strike. I commend the president and the members of our military who carried out this mission. Our enemies should know, without question, that anyone who targets our brave Americans around the globe will be brought to justice.”

Bilirakis represents Florida’s 12th Congressional District, which includes  all of Pasco and northern parts of Hillsborough and Pinellas counties.
