Ahern: Memorial Day ‘Is Reserved in Our Hearts’
State Rep. Larry Ahern challenges residents to think of all those who sacrificed for freedoms.
SEMINOLE – State Rep. Larry Ahern, R-Seminole, issued a Memorial Day statement asking residents to think about the liberties gained by the sacrifices of soldiers who have served.
Here is his statement:
“Since 1868, our great nation has honored the sacrifice of past soldiers, who lost their lives in the battles of gaining and defending our cherished freedoms, with a national day of observation. Today, 149 years later, this tradition still continues and is reserved in our hearts, as a special day to honor the fallen for their heroics and historical actions in the U.S. Armed Forces. No sacrifice was too small; every life was valuable and has made a difference in preserving our current way of life. While many of us may know one (or more) of these brave souls as a family member or friend, I challenge you to think of the many unknown to you. Let us reflect on the liberties their bravery afforded us; God willing, may we never lose them.
“God Bless the United States of America!”
Ahern represents District 66 in the Florida House of Representatives. District 66 covers a portion of west Pinellas.
