The site will close to accommodate expansion of the Southwest Water Treatment Facility.

ST. PETERSBURG -This city is closing its Pinellas Bayway community recycling drop-off site as of May 1.

Residents who use the site are encouraged to begin using the city’s south brush site location, 2500 26th Ave. S., for drop-off recycling. The Pinellas Bayway location is closing to accommodate expansion at the adjacent Southwest Water Treatment facility.

Like the city’s other four brush sites, the site at 2500 26th Ave. S accepts newspaper, mixed paper, numbered plastics 1-7, colored glass, aluminum and steel cans, jar lids, cardboard, appliances and mixed metals. Yard waste, including grass clippings, leaves, tree and shrub trimmings, palm fronds, limbs, and logs, is accepted at all city brush sites with these exceptions: no plastics, metal or lumber; limbs or logs must be less than five feet long; or stumps weighing less than 300 pounds. Citizens are asked not to dispose of yard waste or limbs in the blue residential recycling carts.

Residents who drop off yard waste at any of the city’s five brush sites will need to show proof of residency, such as a driver’s license, at the facility entrance.

Brush sites are open 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekends. City brush sites are closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.
