Joe’s Creek Greenway Park was transformed into Raymond H. Neri Community Park on Saturday in honor of the Lealman activist.

LEALMAN – The new Raymond H. Neri Community Park sign was unveiled at a renaming ceremony this morning (Oct. 27). The park, located at 4303 46th Avenue North in Lealman, was previously known as Joe’s Creek Greenway Park. About 100 people, including Mr. Neri’s family and public officials, attended the ceremony.

“Every time we would have a family gathering, all Ray would talk about was Lealman this and Lealman that. It was fun,” said Pauline Shaver, the mohter of Mr. Neri’s three children.

Now, the park will become part of the family’s annual tradition.

“We’ll have everybody come here to get together instead of at Thanksgiving or Christmas,” she said. “Not all of the family could come today. We’ve just got to figure out a time of year that is not too hot or too cold. It will start in 2019 for sure.”

Here are some pictures from the event.
