Hillsborough County consumer protection offers workshops on fraud and keeping your private information private.

HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY – Are you protected this tax season? Compared to other states, Florida has a higher amount of income tax fraud cases, according to the Federal Trade Commission. In fact, Tampa tops the list of U.S. cities with the most fraud-related income tax filings. During National Consumer Protection Week (Monday – March 12), Hillsborough County consumer protection will provide community outreach events and resources to educate consumers on how to make better financial decisions.

While identity theft remain a top consumer priority nationally, there are many different types of fraud of which consumers should be aware. Learn from experts on a variety of topics at the following locations:

Hillsborough County’s consumer protection offers a wide range of tools and educational resources to help consumers avoid becoming victims of fraud. This program is one of the many ways Hillsborough County is working to remain a healthy, enjoyable place to live.
