Workshops Coming Up for New Medicare Participants

Both sessions will be held at the St. Petersburg Main Library.

ST. PETERSBURG — Two free workshops for those who are eligible for Medicare and enrolling for the first time will be held in April at the Main Library, 3745 Ninth Ave. N. The St. Petersburg Library System, in partnership with SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders) and the Area Agency on Aging of Pasco-Pinellas, Inc. are the hosts.

The first one is the “New to Medicare” workshop on April 9 at 10:30 a.m. Participants will learn about health care and prescription drug plan options for Medicare beneficiaries, and what state and federal programs are available to assist low-income beneficiaries with Medicare costs. Register by calling (727) 893-7724.

On April 23 at 1:30 p.m., the workshop will be about “Medicare Plan Finding.” Participants will learn how to navigate the Medicare.gov website, and how to use the plan finder tool to find the right coverage. Participants should bring their red, white, and blue Medicare card and a list of their prescription drugs. Registration is required and limited to 10 participants.
