Work includes regrading to make the park more like an amphitheater for movies and other events.

CLEARWATER – After five months of renovations and construction to Clearwater Beach’s Pier 60 Park, the new improvements will be completed by Sunday (Feb. 28).

Clearwater Beach | Pier 60 | Clearwater   Visitors will now have a more enjoyable and enhanced experience when visiting America’s best beach. By expanding the park, the city of Clearwater believes the redesign will improve the flow of pedestrians, as well as maintain the continuity of beach walk.

The project included regrading the park to make an amphitheater like setting for movies and events. This will allow Clearwater Beach to bring back the popular Sunset Cinema, movie screenings on Friday and Saturday nights. Visitors can bring their lawn chairs, beach towels or blankets and enjoy a free movie.

Other improvements include an expanded beach walk through the park to Mandalay Avenue, more open green space, improvements to storm water retention and the addition of a decorative seating wall along the walkway. Some of the sod will take some time to root itself into the site so the grass area will be closed off until the grass can handle traffic.

Future city beach projects expected to be completed soon include renovation and increasing the number of women’s restroom stalls in the Barefoot Beach House, 332 S Gulfview Blvd.
