Viera Wins Runoff for Tampa Council

The winning margin was a slim 62 votes, according to the Hillsborough County elections office.

TAMPA – First-time candidate Luis Viera is the winner of Tuesday’s (Dec. 6) runoff election for the District 7 seat on the Tampa City Council.

Viera won with 2,588 votes, or 50.64 percent of the total 5,111 votes. His opponent, Jim Davison, received 2,523 votes, or 49.36 percent of the vote. The turnout was 9.49 percent, according to unofficial results from the Hillsborough County Supervisor of Elections Office.

Viera, a lifelong resident of the Tampa area, is a partner in the law firm of Ogden Sullivan. He is chair of Tampa’s civil service board, founder and president of the Lawyers Autism Awareness Foundation, and incoming president of the Tampa Hispanic Bar Association.
