Update: St. Petersburg Man Dies in Fiery Pinellas Park Crash

Police have identified the man who died early Monday (Feb. 29) when his truck hit a pillar on a Bryan Dairy Road overpass.

PINELLAS PARK -A St. Petersburg man died early Monday (Feb. 29) after the truck he was driving struck an overpass and burst into flames.

Dead at the scene was Michael Hester, 60, of St. Petersburg. Mr. Hester was the only one in the pickup truck.

Pinellas Park police said the investigation is ongoing, but it appears the Ford F150 pickup truck that Mr. Hester was driving was traveling at a high rate of speed north on the U.S. 19 N frontage road when it struck a pillar on the Bryan Dairy Road overpass and burst into flames. The resulting fire and investigation closed Bryan Dairy to traffic for several hours after the crash.
