Undie Run Set for Today in St. Petersburg

Hundreds of runners are expected today for the sold-out Cupid’s Undie Run in downtown St. Petersburg.
ST. PETERSBURG – About 400 runners spread the love to raise funds for children’s tumors in today’s (Feb. 14) sold-out Cupid’s Undie Run, billed as “where a little crazy meets a lot of charity.”
Organizers say the event will “put the hilarity in charity with hundreds of half-naked runners taking to the streets in celebration of their fundraising for the Children’s Tumor Foundation.”
Runners will race through downtown on First Avenue N; Bayshore Drive NE; through Straub Park; and Bayshore Drive SE, before returning to First Avenue N and the finish line. The event gets underway at 2 p.m. Parking restrictions will affect both sides of First Avenue N/NE from Third Street N to Beach Drive NE; both sides of Bayshore Drive NE from First Avenue NE to First Avenue SE; and the east side of Beach Drive NE at First Avenue NE beginning at 11:30 a.m.
Owners of vehicles with residential parking permits that park in the affected areas are encouraged find alternate locations to avoid a citation or vehicle relocation.Expect congestion along Beach Drive NE and Bayshore Drive NE between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Visitors should use First Avenue SE to access Demen’s Landing and the Saturday Morning Market, while guests of the Dali Museum and the Mahaffey Theater should use Fifth Avenue SE or First Street South. Marina parking spaces along Bayshore Drive will be accessible from Second Avenue NE.
