The 17 year old was struck by a car while walking on the shoulder of the road in an unlighted area.

PASCO COUNTY – A teenager from New Port Richey was killed Friday (Dec. 18) night while walking along Moon Lake Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Dead at the scene was Marie Elizabeth Pizzino, 17, of New Port Richey. Receiving minor injuries was Chris Broffman, 14, also of New Port Richey. He was taken to Bayonet Point Hospital.

FHP troopers say the two teens were walking south on the right shoulder of Moon Lake Road south of Nassau Drive about 9 p.m. The area was not lighted, troopers say. A 2014 Ford Focus driven by Paige Milhollen, 24, of New Port Richey, passed them. As it did, the passenger side struck Ms. Pizzino. Milhollen was also taken to Bayonet Point with minor injuries. Troopers say charges are pending.
