Teen Bicyclist Dies in Apollo Beach Traffic Crash

The crash happened when a driver hit the bicyclist from the rear, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

APOLLO BEACH – A Ruskin teenager died early Saturday (March 19) when the bicycle he was riding was struck from the rear by an SUV, Florida Highway Patrol troopers said.

Dylan Herman, 14, of Ruskin, died at the scene. FHP troopers said he was not wearing a helmet.

Troopers said the accident happened about 2:39 a.m. Saturday (March 19). They said Donnel Wolfe, 42, of Bradenton, was driving a 2014 Hyundai Santa Fe south in the inside lane of U.S. 41 south of Apollo Beach Boulevard. He did not see the teen, who was also in the inside lane going south, and hit him. No charges have been filed.
