Players from 12 nations and three continents will participate.

ST. PETERSBURG — The sixth season of  St. Petersburg International Baseball opens with Team Canada facing Team
Puerto Rico Friday (March 11) at Walter Fuller Baseball Complex, 7901
30th Ave N. Game time is 1 p.m.

This season will also serve as the first official season of an
international spring training league, featuring players from 12 countries and
three continents. International teams will play Major League Baseball prospect squads from the
Rays, Blue Jays, Yankees, Tigers and Braves.

“I am excited to welcome International Baseball to St. Pete for the sixth
consecutive year. This year is especially exciting as we welcome two
additional international teams, Europe and Australia, to experience the rich
history of baseball at St. Pete’s Walter Fuller and Huggins-Stengel fields,”
said Mayor Rick Kriseman.

“We’re thrilled to come back to St. Petersburg,” says Joel Araujo, MLB’s
senior manager of international talent development. “Last year was the first
time we brought a group from our Puerto Rican Elite Development Program to the
area to play spring training games and face Team Canada, and it was a great
experience for our players. This year, we’re excited to expand the event to
groups from Europe and Australia, as well.”

Tickets to Walter Fuller games are $5 each and are available one hour before  game time at the box office. Group tickets and local partner packages are  available. All games at Huggins-Stengel Field, 1320 5th St N., are free to the
