The Friday event also marks the first anniversary of the Healthy St. Pete initiative.

ST. PETERSBURG — The City of St. Petersburg is host to its annual group cycling event for National Bike to Work Day on Friday (May 20). National Bike to Work Day coincides with the first anniversary of St. Petersburg’s Healthy St. Pete Initiative.

To celebrate Bike to Work Day, and to recognize the accomplishments of Healthy St. Pete, citizens and press are invited to Williams Park for a meet-up at 7:30 a.m. with Mayor Rick Kriseman and to hear Deputy Mayor Dr. Kanika Tomalin talk Healthy St. Pete first-year milestones and an unveiling of year-two programmatic priorities.

Cyclists participating in the Bike to Work event will make their way to Williams Park from three meet-up locations — Coffee Pot Bayou, The Historic Train Station at the Morean Center for Clay, and Bartlett Park. Mayor Kriseman will lead a bicycle ride from the Train Station to Williams Park, 330 Second Ave. N.

Bike to Work Day, celebrated annually during National Bike to Work Month, is a model example of Deputy Mayor Tomalin’s Healthy St. Pete initiative. In its first year, the initiative reached thousands of residents and launched more than a dozen new programs under the EAT, PLAY, SHOP and LIVE pillars.
