ST. PETERSBURG – Police have arrested a man they say crept into a house while the homeowner slept.

Jasper Fiorenza, 24, of 1743 Michigan Ave. NE in St. Petersburg, was charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling and resisting an officer without violence, according to Pinellas County Jail records.

St. Petersburg police said that a Shore Acres homeowner awoke on Nov. 20 to see him standing at the foot of her bed. When she screamed at him to get out of her house, police said, he took the time to crouch down to pet her cat. He eventually left the house and did not harm the victim.

Police said they identified him from evidence left at the scene. He was arrested Wednesday (Nov. 30).
