The top two candidates in the District 7 primary will advance to the general election Nov.  3.

ST. PETERSBURG — Five candidates are vying for the District 7 City Council seat, and the two top vote-getters in today’s primary election advance to the citywide general election Nov. 3. Only District 7 voters may vote today, pursuant to rules set out in the city charter.

Polls opened a few minutes ago at 7 a.m. and remain open until 7 p.m. this evening. There are 12 polling locations serving 15 precincts.

The candidates are Sheila Scott Griffin, Winthrop “Will” Newton, Aaron Sharpe, Lewis Stephens Jr. and Lisa Wheeler-Brown.
