Lights! Camera! Action! A feature movie is being filmed in St. Petersburg about a man who owes money to the mob. Producer James Wilson said the film was originally scheduled to be shot in New York, but better weather and St. Petersburg’s interesting location caused the change. Paying Mr. Getty will be released in 2016, said a Bay News 9 report.

Buy Local: Highlighting locally made goods, the St. Petersburg Area Chamber of Commerce has opened a consignment retail store attached to the city’s Visitors Center at 100 Second Ave. N. For information and to volunteer to help, call (727) 388-0686.

Boss poet: Helen Pruitt Wallace was this week named St. Petersburg’s Poet Laureate today in a mayoral proclamation read by Deputy Mayor Kanika Tomalin. Wallace replaces Peter Meinke, who was named Florida’s Poet Laureate earlier this year.
