Prince to Be Honored with Sand Sculpture

The sculptors at the Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival are carving a memorial to the music icon, whose death was announced today (April 21).

CLEARWATER – Organizers of the Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival have announced they plan to honor Prince with a sand sculpture. Prince, 57, was found dead today (April 21) at his home in suburban Minneapolis.

“The city of Clearwater and the organizers of the Pier 60 Sugar Sand Festival are shocked and saddened by the passing of musical icon Prince,” the announcement read. “To honor this musical genius, starting today sculptors at the Sugar Sand Festival will begin sculpting a memorial of Prince.”

The theme of this year’s festival, which runs through Sunday (April 24), is “All Out Music.”
