PINELLAS COUNTY – A North Redington Beach teen died at a local hospital where he was taken after a traffic crash late Saturday (June 11), according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Karch A. Ross, 19, of North Redington Beach, died at Bayfront Health of injuries he received in the crash. He was a passenger in one of the vehicles. The driver of that vehicle, Zachary H. James, 20, of Largo, was also taken to Bayfront with serious injuries, the FHP said. The driver of the other vehicle, Kendal J. Bartholomew, 40, of Tampa, received minor injuries. He was not taken to a hospital.

The accident happened about 10:42 p.m. Saturday (June 11). James was driving a 1999 Toyota Corolla north on 28th Street N. Bartholomew was behind him in a 2008 GMC 1500. James slowed to turn onto 47th Avenue N. Bartholomew failed to stop and rear-ended the Toyota, pushing it into the parking lot of the B&N Food Mart, 4700 28th St. N, where it hit a 1999 Ford Explorer that was parked in the lot, troopers said. The GMC continued on 28th Street, coming to a halt in the intersection at 50th Avenue N.
