PINELLAS COUNTY – The Florida Food Conference is April 18, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the University of South Florida St. Petersburg. All-day admission is $75 and includes lunch and parking. The venue is the University Student Center, 140 Seventh Ave. S. Topics include do-it-yourself cookbooks, Florida seafood and a cross-cultural conversation about rice. Keynote speaker is Don Pintabona, executive chef at Locale Market at the Sundial in St. Petersburg. His subject: “Closing the Gap: Connecting with Florida’s Farmers of Land and Sea.” Pintabona’s 30-year career included a stint as executive chef at Robert DiNiro’s Tribeca Grill in New York. Locale Market is sponsoring a limited-seating breakfast. A limited-seating after-party is 4-5:30 p.m. There is no same-day registration.
