The University of Connecticut and Marshall clash Saturday at Tropicana Field.

ST. PETERSBURG — Teams, students and alumni are expected in St. Petersburg Tuesday (Dec. 22) as the week of St. Petersburg Bowl activities kicks off.  It is the eighth renewal of the holiday week game, and this year, the University of Connecticut Huskies and the Marshall Thundering Herd will play at Tropicana Field Saturday at 11 a.m. It is the first time the schools have played one another in football.

Pregame events take place through the week and include the Beach Bash, the Battle of the Bands and a Bowl Block Party and Fan Tailgate Extravaganza. All events are free and open to the public.

Last year, North Carolina State defeated the University of Central Florida 34-27.
