St. Pete Opens Registration for Summer Aquatics Camps

ST. PETERSBURG — St. Petersburg Parks and Recreation Aquatics division has begun registration for summer camps at the North Shore Aquatic Complex, 901 North Shore Drive NE in St. Petersburg.

The American Red Cross Junior Lifeguarding Camp will be offered to youth between the ages of 11 and 14 during two different one-week sessions. Providing a “foundation of knowledge, attitudes and skills for future lifeguards,” the first will run from June 19 to June 23 and the second from July 24 to July 28. Cost is $100, and it will run from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. daily during each session.

A second offering is a summer aquatics camp in which registrants will learn water safety and  explore local waterways. The Summer Acquatics Camp will have three one-week sessions starting on June 4. The cost is $200 per week and is available for youth between the ages of 8 and 12. Camp will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. during each session, but will start at 8 a.m. on Fridays.

Swim tests will be required for entry into each camp and campers are asked to bring bathing suits, sunscreen, water shoes, towels, hats, a change of clothes, sneakers, goggles, water, a packed lunch and a snack daily.
