UPDATE: St. Pete to Offer Sandbags Sunday

As the forecast has changed, St. Petersburg has adjusted its sandbag schedule to include today and Sunday (June 5).

ST. PETERSBURG – The city’s Emergency Management Office is monitoring a tropical disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico that could bring severe weather to St. Petersburg in the coming two to five days.

Based on the current forecast the main impact will be heavy rain, possibly exceeding seven inches. Significant rainfall, as well as isolated tornadoes and waterspouts, are possible starting Sunday (June 5) through Tuesday (June 7) across Central and South Florida as the system approaches.

Sandbag operations are planned from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday or until inclement weather begins.

Sandbags will be available at the following locations:
*Northeast Park, 875 62nd Ave. NE (located at the Cardinal Drive entrance to Mangrove Bay Golf Course)
*Bartlett Park (Frank W. Pierce Recreation Center), 22nd Ave. S between Sixth and Seventh streets
