Forgotten Coast: Return to Wild Florida tracks a black bear through unexplored sections of the state.

ST. PETERSBURG — The University of South Florida St Petersburg (USFSP) is partnering with the Florida Wildlife Corridor to present a screening of a new documentary film, The Forgotten Coast: Return to Wild Florida.

Following in the footsteps of a wandering Florida black bear, three friends leave civilization and become immersed in a vast and unexplored wildlife corridor stretching from the Everglades to the Florida-Alabama border. The rugged 1,000-mile journey by foot, paddle and bike traverses Florida’s Forgotten Coast – a wilderness that has the potential to change the way we see the natural world.

The film will be shown Wednesday (Feb. 3)  in the University Student Center on the University of South Florida St. Petersburg campus, 200 6th Ave. S.

The free event will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a short introduction to the film and team members, followed by the one-hour documentary. It finishes with a Q&A with expedition team members Mallory DImmitt and Carlton Ward Jr.

The USFSP Environmental Science and Sustainability Club is host to the screening, thanks to generous support of
The Florida Wildlife Corridor Expedition, USFSP Center for Science and Policy Applications for the Coastal Environment and Wells Fargo as part of the USFSP 50th Anniversary Celebration
