Pinellas School District Offers Help to South St. Pete Students

The free Saturday academy will concentrate on science, technology, engineering and math. Parents have until Feb. 4 to apply.

ST. PETERSBURG -Pinellas County Schools will offer a free Saturday STEM Academy for students in grades 4-8. The students must attend Campbell Park, Fairmount Park, Lakewood, Maximo or Melrose elementary schools or Bay Point, John Hopkins, Thurgood Marshell or Tyrone middle schools. The Saturday STEM Academy will begin in February and will be open to 40 elementary school students and 40 middle school students. The academy is on a first-come, first-served basis until the allotted spaces are filled. Applications are due no later than 4 p.m. Feb. 4.

The Saturday academy will be held at Pinellas Technical College, St. Petersburg Campus, 901 34th St. S. Sessions will be held from 8 a.m. -11:30 a.m. on Feb. 6, Feb. 20, March 5, March 12, April 2 and April 16. Breakfast will be provided.
