$440,000 worth of work is expected to continue through October.

ST. PETERSBURG — In the continuing effort to enhance and repair the wastewater collection system throughout St.  Petersburg, manhole maintenance will be taking place all over the city from now through October.

The repair and rehabilitation project includes traffic control around the construction, cleaning and surface restoration of deteriorated sanitary sewer manholes in various locations.  Contractors will typically notify businesses and homeowners in the general area work 24-48 hours prior to the work.  Any construction is typically “done within a day,” and contractors have been directed to make every effort to minimize inconvenience.

The rehab of these sewer structures is projected to cost $440,000.  It is being completed as part of Mayor Rick Kriseman’s Infrastructure Plan and will help reduce the amount of inflow to the city’s wastewater system.
